The Cake and Bake show London was a fantastic success! I don’t know how many people attended but it was packed for all three days and there was so much to see, do and learn.
Jane gave a bun demonstration on the Saturday and the Sunday to sold out classrooms (thank you everyone for coming!).
Honestly I was terrified that nobody would come and the 15 minute wait I had between setting up and starting was the longest 15 minutes of my life. I was there, in the little classroom with the TV screen and my buns and dough and books all around me and I had no way of knowing what was going on outside the door. Thankfully, a queue was forming and then lovely people came in with highly intelligent questions and a genuine curiosity about bread and bun making among all that lovely cake! So, thanks once again.
During the class there was a lot of audience participation as we ate buns, talked buns and worked together to shape Montreal bagels, German prezels, Japanese jampan, Mexican Ninos Envueltos, and Uruguyan vigilantes. Who knew buns were such an international crowd!
On the Friday, some of the Bread Angels came along to share bread and talk to people about setting up a micro bakery. Thanks so much to all of them – everyone was super! Once again, I was really thrilled with the level of interest and curiosity shown by the members of the audience and so pleased to be with Lucie, Adri, Ursi, Gaye and Rhiannon who came along and talked and answered questions with such skill and enthusiasm. So, to everyone a big thank you and we hope to see you soon either on a bread course, on the micro bakery course or next year at the show when I am sure we will have even more to say!
